Sedated Pet Grooms
At Tangled Pet Grooming we recognise that grooming can be a source of stress for some pets. We see pets that show fear or aggressive behaviour during the process. While we aim to create a calm and welcoming environment, there are times when a pet’s emotional state may make grooming unsafe – for both the pet and the groomer. With different levels of sedated, we can find what type of sedated pet groom will help your furry friend feel more at ease.

When to consider sedated grooming?
In situations where a pet’s fear or aggression poses a risk, sedation may be considered as a kinder alternative to ensure a safe and stress-free grooming experience. Sedation is not a decision made lightly; it’s approached with the utmost care and respect for the pet’s well-being. Our close affiliation with Town & Country Vet allows us to collaborate with qualified veterinarians and vet nurses to determine the best course of action.
What options are there for sedation grooms?
After a discussion with your vet about your pet’s tolerance levels, they can make a plan on the level of sedation that is best for your pet.
There is medicated sedation which is given before the groom to give light sedation. This is prescribed by your vet, and given by you to your pet at the prescribed time prior to the groom.
Alternatively, there is full sedation under anaesthetic. Your pet will need to be monitored throughout their groom by professional nursing staff. You can book this with Tangled Pet Grooming by completing the form below, or by calling Town & Country Vet on 035441200.
On the day of the appointment, please come to Tangled Pet Grooming reception to start the admit process. You can make any grooming request at this time. Then, a nurse will ask you to fill out the necessary admittance form. This is likely to take around 15 to 20 minutes. The lovely staff at Town & Country Vet will walk you through the process as your pet will need to be admitted, and then monitored as they wake, to ensure their safety.
We will contact you when your pet is ready to be collected and discharged from the Town & Country Vet’s reception.
What to expect for sedated grooms.
The standard service for sedated grooms includes a partial to full body clip, with no scissor styling, a basic ear clean and nail trim.
We at Tangled Pet Grooming can add a styled cut for an additional charge, which you can pay at Tangled Pet Grooming once your pet’s groom is complete.
If any additional veterinary services are needed while your pet is having their sedated groom, please talk with the Town & Country Vet nurse when completing the admittance paperwork. The additional veterinary services’ costs will need to be paid with Town & Country Vet when you collect your pet at discharge.
Who do I book a full sedated groom with?
You can book your sedated groom with Tangled Pet Grooming, by completing the form below, or with Town & Country Vet.
You will need to be registered with both. Town & Country Vet does not need to be your primary vet for routine vet services, but it does help with accurate clinical record keeping for continuity. Town & Country Vet will need a copy of your pet’s clinical records, and your primary vet will receive in return a copy of the clinical record for the sedated groom.

Why is a bath not included in the sedated grooms?

Using sedation can significantly reduce anxiety for pets who struggle with grooming. It allows us to perform necessary grooming tasks without the pet experiencing fear or discomfort, ultimately benefiting their health and hygiene. Regular grooming is essential for maintaining a pet’s coat, skin, and overall health. Sedation can make this process more manageable for certain pets.
We believe that every pet deserves to feel safe and cared for during grooming. Our priority is always to act in the best interest of the pet, ensuring that their experience is as positive and stress-free as possible. If sedation is recommended, we work closely with pet owners to provide detailed information and support throughout the process, ensuring transparency and peace of mind.
At Tangled Pet Grooming we are committed to fostering a nurturing environment for all pets, and we are here to guide you in making the best choices for your furry family members.
