When can I book my puppy or kitten for their first groom?
Introducing grooming maintenance is vital for your kitten and puppy’s development and overall happiness. Whether grooming and maintaining at home or seeking professional grooming to maintain your kitten or puppy’s coat, you want to ensure positive exposure from as early as 18 weeks old to help build trust and confidence that will last a lifetime.
At Tangled Pet Grooming, we keep a clean and safe environment for your new fur baby. To further support your kitten and puppy’s health, they have to have had their final booster before attending their first grooming appointment.
Please check with your primary vet clinic to understand what vaccination are required to keep your kitten and puppy healthy and well.
What to expect from your first puppy groom
A puppy’s first grooms are for those between 18 weeks to 7 months old. The groom is completed in a positive manner to expose them to the grooming process.
At Tangled Pet Grooming this includes bath cleanse, desensitising blow-dry, sanitary tidy (eyes, feet and groin), and nail trim.
Prices start from $160, for two appointments booked within one month of each booking. Your puppy must be no older than seven months old to be eligible for this special offer.
Thereafter, we recommend regular grooming at 6 to 8 weeks to keep building trust and confidence in your young dog with their groomer.
Please be aware their first groom is a learning process. We only groom to their comfort levels, but try to be firm of what behaviour is expected of them in order to set them up for a lifetime of positive grooming experiences.
What to expect from your first kitten groom
Kittens are adorable and it is often the case that pet owners don’t see the need to groom them when they are young. But, it is the best time to teach them so that when they are adults, they are used to brushing, removing knots, grooming sounds or cutting nails. For some adult cats that have not been exposed to grooming, this can make for an unpleasant and stressful experience, for cat and owner, when trying to introduce even the simplest grooming routine, like brushing.
